Garfagnana, fantastic land

Most of the Serchio Valley is nowadays identified with the name of Garfagnana, a corner of northwestern Tuscany enclosed between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. It is a land rich an attractions: natural parks, caves, castles, Romanesque churches and medieval villages witnesses of an ancient culture that still survives in the traditions and local customs.

Discover this land, that still retains much of its original natural heritage, means to follow in the footsteps of pilgrims and saints, the ways of transhumance and the routes taken by armies. From the valley you can go into ancient chestnut trees, wild and shady gorges or discover airy valleys with large terraces planted with farro (spelt), up to the rocky and jagged peaks of the Apuan Alps or to the wavy and grassy ones of the Apennines.
